TIPS provided U.S. Treasury can really help to increase or maintain payout rate of bonds over time. I am already planning my future retirement and this information would really help me. I really appreciate your effort put on this post and for your insight.

Inflation (or deflation as you have so deftly noted) is by far one of my biggest concerns when it comes to planning for my future retirement. Thank you for providing such valuable insight into ways to combat these consequential events which we all will certainly face. What matters is how we prepare today.

So I agree that TIPS are a way to go for retirement, but right now, with inflation so low and treasury yields at pretty much 0%, aren't there better choices for seniors? My mother is 66 and her money market doesn't get any return so she rolled it over into a foreign CD.

Nice article on TIPS. I work with a financial advisor who has recommended these to many of our shared clients. Inflation is going to be a real problem for investors going forward. Thanks,

With TIPS the payment on maturity has not been compounded monthly, quarterly or yearly?

Is the tax savings and payment on maturity better than compounding interest?

Is it any safer having your money with a government, or a large corporation bank. Americans have a different banking system than what we have in New Zealand and Australia.

Is it safer to buy gold and store it under the mattress, harder nights sleep!
